BUILDING AND INSPECTION DIVISION
CITY HALL
EVERETT, WASHINGTON
September 17, 1963
BUILDING
ELECTRIC
PLUMBINO
CONSTRUCTION
SEPTIC INSTALLATIONS
SEWERS
Lawrence T. Erickson
Building Inspector
City Hall
Everett, Washington
Mr. Erickson:
Reference here is to an inspection of the plumbing and sanitary facilities in the
building known ..s the Virginia Hotel, 1816Hewitt Avenue, located on Lots 15 and
16, Block 665, Plat of Everett, on September 10, 1963.
The portion of this building used as a hotel is now vacant and has been for some
time. There are 17 guest rooms on each of two floors. Two of these rooms on each
floor may be storage rooms. Under present conditions it is very hard to determine
what rooms are storage.
On the upper floor, serving 15 rooms, there is one bathroom and one toilet room.
The bathroom has one bath tub, one toilet and one basin. The toilet room hs one
toilet and one basin. The fixtures are outdated and partly inoperative. `jome
rooms on this floor have kitchen sinks. Fixtures in bath and toilet rooms and
waste pipes and vents to sink need to be replaced.
On the main floor, two toilet rooms and one separate bathroom with one tub. Toilet
rooms have one each a toilet and basin. Fixtures are old and partially inoperative
and will have to be replaced. The water heating facilities are outlawed and con-
demned and cannot be used.
Many rooms have old, outdated gas cooking facilities that are outlawed, condemned and
cannot be used.
The main plumbing venting and house drains are adequate and are in excellent condition.
The sanitary facilities in the portion of the building occupied by a Tavern are
adequate but poor housekeeping is in evidence.
Should this building be re -activated as a hotel or rooming house, all plumbing
fixtures now installed will have to be renewed. All gas equipment now installed will
have to be renewed. Waste pipes which have been run to plumbing fixtures, other
than in the bathrooms and toilets, will have to be replaced. Rainleaders on rear
of building will have to be repaired.
Central heating equipment is adequate and is in good condition.
Yours truly
. cl 4-_
E. 0. Dorcy
Inspector of Sewers & Plumbing
EOD:rm
