These
conneclions are not subject to tension loads. The AISC s[ales thal "Bolts in connections nol subjecl
to lension loads, where slip can be permitted and where loosening or fatigue due to vibration or load
(luctuations are nol design considerations, need only be tighfened to lhe snug-light condition. The
snug-tight condilion is defined as the tightness attained by either a few impacts of an impact wrench
or the full effort of a vorker vith an ordinary spud wrench that brings the connected plies inlo firm
contact." (Manual of Steel Construction, Load & Resistance Factor Design, Voume I, Second
Edition, 1994, page 6-79) Therefore all bolted connections in Interlake SlrucWral Rack are to be
tigntened to the snug-light condition defined above.
Roll-Formed Rack: Most bolted conneclions in our roll-formed rack are bearing/shear connections
also. These should be tightened lo lhe snug-light condition as given above.
The excepGon lo lhis is our infinilely adjustable endplate which is a slip crilical connection The bolts
for this connection have to be tightened to a torque of 110 (t.
