Section 6: ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES <br />6.1 ELECTRIC ENERGY <br />6.1.1 Threshold <br />The PUD No. 1 forecasts an adequate supply of electricity for the SW Everett Subarea. Special <br />Property Use permits are required for aboveground ntility facilities. These reviews will address <br />landscaping and screening, vie�v and compatibility issues. <br />6.1.3 Mitigation Measures <br />1. All power lines csrrying a voltage of less than 15 kV must be undergrounded. (SEPA Land <br />and Shoreline Use Policies) <br />2. When maintaining _urridors for aboveground lines near environmentally sensitive areas, to <br />the extent feasible, the PUD shall leave cut tree stumps as snags for wildlife. The corridors <br />must be replanted �vith native species that �vill not grow high enough ro impact the lines. <br />(SEPA Plant and Animal Policies) <br />6.2 NATURAL GAS <br />6.2.1 Threshold <br />View issues must be addressed in the Review Process II or III applicalion for aboveground <br />utilitics. <br />6.3 NON-RENE�VABLE RESOURCES <br />6.3.1 Threshald <br />New mining activities arc not addressed in this SEPA review. <br />6.3.3 Mitigation Measures <br />Mining sites must comply with the Department of Natural Resources reclamation <br />requirements. On sites with existing mined slopes which are not subject to DNR regulations, <br />slopes must be remediated to l.5 horizontal : I vertical (1.SH:1V), except for glacial till <br />slopes which can be remediated to 1 H: I V slope if approved by a qualified geotechnical <br />engineer. All remediated slopes must be covered with top soil material that will support <br />vegetation, jute matting or equivalent; and be re��egetated with hydroseed, groundcover and <br />shnibs.
