should include space for such uses as: museum, arts, traveling exhibits, meetings and for <br /> other public uses; and <br /> WHEREAS, the community has expressed an interest in the provision of public space; <br /> and; <br /> WHEREAS, at the February 13, 2002, City Council meeting, a public hearing was held <br /> at which time the Public Facilities District presented the City Council a redesign of the <br /> Special Events Center incorporating changes to the façade, relocating the support <br /> building for the community ice rink from the south side to the north side of the <br /> community ice rink and the provision of public space in the support building; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the February 13th pubic hearing, the Public Facilities District also <br /> presented revisions reconfiguring the Special Events Center's space including an increase <br /> in kitchen space; and <br /> WHEREAS, the enhancements provided herein are site specific to the Hewitt Avenue <br /> site and if the Special Events Center is constructed at a site other than the current Hewitt <br /> Avenue site,these enhancements do not apply; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT THAT: <br /> The City Council approves the redesign of the Special Events Center as presented by the <br /> Public Facilities District at the February 13, 2002, City Council meeting. The redesign is <br /> consistent with the mitigation measures imposed on the Public Facilities District by <br /> Resolution No.5133. The redesign properly reflects, among other things, changes to the <br /> façade, the relocation of the support building for the community ice rink from the south <br /> side to the north side, the provision of additional public space within the support building <br /> and revisions reconfiguring the Special Events Center's space including an increase in <br /> kitchen space. <br /> The additional design changes reflected in the redesign relating to the changes to the <br /> façade, the provision of additional public space within the enlarged support building for <br /> the community ice rink and the reconfiguration of the Special Events Center's space <br /> including an increase in kitchen space are acceptable to the City Council. <br /> The City Council does approve the redesign and reconfiguration of the Special Events <br /> Center as presented at the February 13, 2002, City Council meeting. Further, the City <br /> Council does hereby agree to authorize improvements in an amount not to exceed Six <br /> Million Dollars ($6,000,000) which shall include changes to the façade, the relocation of <br /> the community ice support building to the north, the incorporation of public space within <br /> the enlarged support building for the community ice rink and the increase in the kitchen <br /> space. <br /> 2 <br />
