12. At the November 28th portion of the public hearing before the Historical <br /> Commission, a letter was presented to the Commission wherein the Public Facilities <br /> District presented the following mitigation: <br /> (a) Mitigation elements incorporated into the design of the <br /> special events center include: <br /> (i) The project promises to provide revitalization of historic <br /> Hewitt Avenue that will lead to the economic conditions <br /> necessary to preserve other historic structures; <br /> (ii) The design includes approximately 240 feet of brickwork <br /> to reflect the architecture and building materials, on <br /> historic Hewitt Avenue; <br /> (iii) Design of the Special Events Center will complement the <br /> redevelopment of Hewitt Avenue, which the Commission <br /> has reviewed; and <br /> (iv) Landscaping around will conform to the Gateway Corridor <br /> status. <br /> (b) In addition, the Public Facilities District is also prepared <br /> to: <br /> (i) Contribute $125,000 for the design and construction of a <br /> specific historic element, mutually agreeable to the Everett <br /> Pubic Facilities District and the Commission; <br /> (ii) If the Everett Public Facilities District considers <br /> substantial changes to the exterior design of the Special <br /> Events Center along Hewitt Avenue, the PFD will solicit <br /> the comments of the Everett Historic Commission before <br /> approving the proposed design change; and <br /> (iii) In addition, the Public Facilities District also assures the <br /> Commission that demolition of these two historic <br /> structures will not occur until a Notice to Proceed on the <br /> project has been given by the PFD to its design-build <br /> team. <br /> 4 <br />
