E%*rett, wA 98M <br />lLfP£0 MVllf0. !� AemlM.trio- - <br />September 24, 1981 <br />TO: All Employees and Volunteers: <br />RE: PARKING <br />The Everett Citf Council, at its hearing on GHE's temporary permit application <br />for the use of the Colby -Hoyt lot for parking during construction, voted to accept the <br />Hearing Examiners recoinmendations. The Outcome was to allow the hopsital to use the <br />lot for parking until January 7, 1982, at which time the Hearing ExAminer and ttie City <br />Council will again hold hearings to determine' if we Can Continue to use the lot for the <br />rest of the construction period (until approximately July; 1983). However, cbnditions <br />Of using the lot for the next three months demand that the hospita grade lost, pro- <br />vide for a drainage system, and roll in a layer of crushed gravel. In additlon, parking <br />in the lot would be allowed only from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday = <br />no evening' or weekend parking. If continued use were denied on January 7, 1982, the <br />hospital would have to restore the lot to its natural state (gi-ass). <br />After evaluating the pros and cons, we have decided to discontinue. use of the <br />lot as of 1:00 am on Saturday, September 26, 1981, for the following reasons: <br />• the hospital has no guarantee of permission to use the lot after the <br />hearings <br />•_ with no guarantee of future use, the costs of interim improvements <br />could be wasted. <br />J <br />• the limited -hours of use (6:30 am - 4:30 pm, Mondary through Feiday only) <br />would not alleviate the day/evening shift overlap problem <br />• the hours of use would prevent evening shift employees from parking in <br />this relatively secure lot_ <br />14 the loss of the lot can be relieved to some degree by an alternate plan. <br />A plan is being implemented. to provide for some replacement parking: <br />1. The existing main hospital lot will be restriped to provide parking for in <br />additional 26 vehicles. - <br />.i <br />2. The Everett Traffic.
