SITE
ANALYSIS
•
Locker rooms need to be easily accessible via a
service corridor to the service docks. The press
also needs direct, controllable access to these
areas for interviews.
Official's lockers and press areas will
be used during concerts for star dressing and
back stage guests. Security to these areas is
critical. They also need to be directly adjacent to
the end stage location.
Visitors lockers should be planned with
direct, secure access to the event floor.
Consideration should be given to making these
rooms divisible for more flexibility. Direct
access to team bus parking is desirable.
nactk
Event Facilities Press
The press is divided into two areas —
event level areas and press box. The event level
areas must be located near the television truck
parking. The marshaling area should be adjacent
for staging events with larger press coverage.
The interview room is the vestibule
between the locker rooms and the press. Direct
access from the vertical circulation to the press
box is desired. Consider providing access
directly into the home locker room if possible
with a second entrance off a service corridor.
The press box should be located at the
back of the seating area for hockey. The exact
location will be determined as the building
design is developed. This is due to the large
difference in capacity requirements established
by the local media. Wherever the press box is
located, it is essential that sight lines from this
area not be blocked by standing patrons.
Operations Facilities
This group of areas relate to the day-to-day
building operations, maintenance and building
mechanical systems. It is divided into two areas
— operations and physical plant. The following
discussion describes the sizing, placement and
orientation of these items within the facility.
Operation Facilities — Building Operations
These are the areas used nearly
everyday in the general functioning of the
building. It is desirable to locate them together. It
is also important to have vertical circulation
convenient to these areas. It is also important that
a dedicated entry, preferably in proximity to
security, be provided for employees.
Consideration for a second entrance for visitors
would be desirable.
Operations administration is the venue
management staff. Consideration should be
given to the placement of this group of
coordination of staff, visitors, and event
personnel. It is desirable for this group to have
convenient access to the entire facility.
Ticket operations must be adjacent to the main
box office. This area needs to be very secure
with consideration given to secure route for
money transport personnel. Access for customer
service and group ticket sales is also critical,
Building Operations — Building Maintenance
Building maintenance should be located
convenient to marshaling and the event floor.
This staff works everyday to maintain the
building and convert the facility over between
events.
City of Everett — Arena Feasibility Analysis
Page 26
