' � � 2. A Knox Box is required. 3. Fire Lane Markin¢, - Fire apparatus access roads shall be mazked whenever necessary to maintain the unobstructed minimum required width of roadways. Fire lanes shall be marked as follows: a. Curbs shall be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the top and front, extending the length of the designated firc lane. b. Rolled curbs shall be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the curb, extending d�e lengtl� of the designated fire lanc. c. Lanes without curbs shaU be identified by red traffic paint with a 6-inch wide stripe on the pavement, cxtending tlie lengt6 of thc designated fire lane. d. Thc wotds 'NO YARKING - FIRL LANE' shall be in 3-inch strokc white Ietters 18 inches in height, and placcd 8 inches measurcd perpendicular from the red paint stripe on the pavement. In most cascs, both sides of the access road shall be marked. Where long drives arc to bc marked, the repetitions shall alternate sides of the drive. e. Marking shall also indude the addition of inetal signs stating 'NO PARKING - FIRE LANE- TOW AWAY ZONC' to bc installed at intervals or locations designated by the Firc Code Official. 'The signs shail be approximatcly 12 inches in width and 18 inches in height and have red letters un a white background. Metal signs shall be installcd on either 2-incti metal pipes for private propetty or treated 4-inch by 4-incl� wood posts for public property and shall be located so that the bottom of the sign is a minimum of 7 fect abo��c the curb. Where Cire lanes are adjacent to buildings or structures and whcn approved or directed by lhe Fire Code O(ficiai, the signs may be placed on the face of Q�e building or structure. f. Where dircctcd by the Fire Codc Official, spccific areas shall bc designated and those areas are to be marked with diagonal striping across thc width of t6e fire lane. Diagonal marking shall be used in conjunction ��ith painted curbs and/or eclge striping and shall run at an angle of 30 to 60 dcgrees from one side to the othcr.
