The purpose of our work
was to explore site surface and subsurface conditions end to
provide general earthwork recommendations and design criteria
_ for foundations , and retaining walls .
Nine test borings were drilled to explore subsurface
• conditions . Some of these borings were used for exploring
both soil conditions from a geotechnScai enginering
standpoint and te studY the patential for soil contamination .
The results of our evironmental analysis are being presented
in a separate environmental assessment report. In general ,
the test borings encountered a layer of fili or topsoil 2 to 7
feet in thickness overlying stiff , clayey silt soils. Dense,
glacially-consolidated soils were found underlying the native
silts . It is our opinion that the building may be supported
on conventional foundations placed over the native sttff to
verY stiff silts that underlie the fill and topsoil .
Stripping of fill below the entire building area is
recommendrd. Reuse of the silty on-site fill soils is
dependent on weather and soil moisture conditions.
The attached report contains a discussion of the study and our
recommendations . Pleese contact us if there are ay questions
' regarding this report, or if we aan be of further assistance
during the design phase of this project.
Respectfully submitted,
GEOTECH CONSULTANTS, INC.
. od f
MAR 0 5 3 ames R.
