I SHANNON FWILSON.INC.
and delavs to the nroiect can ocr if i P radine and errhrlc opzrdfian . +*Pmot'
durine he t Pr tim c of the r
I8.4.2 Prenaration of Develoned Area
 8.4.2.1 Surface Drine
I We recommend that, prior to performing any site grading work, low-lying
areas and small drainage features that are located in proposed building, parlring, and drive
areas be drained. This could be accomplished by excavating shallow temporary ditches.
IThe ttenches would not only drain the low-lying aneas, but also would aid in drying out the
soils sumounding these areas. In our opinion, construction of tempotary dreinage ditches
' prior W major earthwrk operations would gready improve the general hacabiliry of the
site. Tbmpoiary drainage diwhes should be installed as soon as construction begins, and
Iwell in advance of major grading.
I8.4.2.2 Site ratinn
We recommend that trees and brush be cieared and roots and stumps be
Iremaved from buildinB areas, parlanB areas, pavements, and all areas to be graded. The
eaisdng surficial Wpsoil and any soil conhaining signi8cant quan6tics of ocganics should be
stripped and removad from all amas. The depth of this removal is expected to be variable
over the site. Our explorations encountered from 0 to about 18 inches of surficial topsoil.
iFor estima6ng topsoil stripping quanGdes only, we recommend using an avetage depth of 8
to 10 inches. Rnots and stumps will likely eztend deeper than the depths estimated above
and should be completely cemoved in the amas specified abwe. lbpsoil is not considered
suitable for reuse as swctural SIl and should be removed from the site or stockpiled for
reuse in landscape aceas. Stripping and removal of topsoil should extend laterally a
Iminimum distance of 15 feet beyond building limits and parldng and drive areas.
I8.4.2.3 Bm•ldine Pad Pre ratinn
In addition to stripping the surficial topsoil, stripping of al( ( i Y fill as
I- well as any soft, organic, disturbed or otherwise unsuitable soils (including original topsoil),
I
W-6693-01
I 15
