PORT OF EVERETT <br />NORTH MARINA REDEVELOPMENT <br />SiIALLOW SOIL VCP CLEANUP ACTION <br />PART1-GENERAL <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br />SECTION 01355 <br />ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION <br />A. This section describes thc o��erall requirements for em�ironmental protcction during <br />implementation of thc shallow soil cleanup action at the site. <br />B. Perform the work in a manner to minimize the polluting of air, water, or land, and <br />control noise and the disposal of solid waste materials, as well as any other pollutants. <br />1.02 PRECONSTRUCTION SURVLY <br />A. Prior to start of any onsite soil cleanup activities, Contractor and the GC/CM shall make <br />a joint condition survcy (including photographs), after which Contractor shall prepare a <br />brief repori indicating on a layout plan the condition of work areas, assigned storage <br />arcas, access routes, and other pertinent site features. This report will be signed by both <br />pariies upon mutual agreement of its accuracy and completeness. <br />1.03 PROTECTION OF LAND AREAS <br />A. Except for work and storage arcas and access routes specifically assigned by the GGCM <br />for the use oC Contractor, land areas outside thc limits of the work performed under this <br />Contract shall be preserved in thcir present condition. Contractor shall confine its <br />construction activities to onsite areas defined on the Drawings or specifically assigned <br />by the GGCM for its usc. <br />1.04 PROTECTION OF WATER RESOURCES <br />A. Control thc disposal of fuels, oils, bitumens, calcium chloride, acids or other hazmful <br />materials, both on and off the site and comply with applicable federal, state, county, and <br />municipal Inws conceming pollution of rivers, streams, and other surface waters while <br />perforn�ing the �vork under this ContracL Special measures shall be taken to prevent <br />chemicals and othcr hazardous or deleterious substances, including but not limited to <br />fLels, oil, greases, bituminous materials, herbicides, and insecticides from entering <br />public waters. Construction �vater and other waste �vaters shall not be allo�ved to enter <br />natural surface water bodies without adcquate treatment. <br />1.05 \�VASTE DISPOSAL <br />A. As part of Contractor's conswction plan, submit a description oCContractor's scheme <br />for disposing of waste materials resulting from the work under this Contract. If any <br />waste matcrial is spilled or dumped in unauthorized areas, completely remove the <br />matcrial to the Pori's satisfaction and restorc the area to the condition of the adjacent <br />100% Design Review Submittal <br />CIP No. 3-0-003-09 O1355-1 Project No. PD-NM-2005-03 <br />
