Before application of the fog <br />seal ail surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned of dust, soil, pavement grndings, and other foreign <br />matter. The tog seal shall be CSS-1 or CSS-1h uniformly applied to the pavement free of <br />streaks and bare spots at the rate 0.03 to 0.05 residual gallons per square yard. The emulsified <br />asphalt shall be diluted at a 2te of one part water to one part emulsified asphalt unless <br />othenvise directed by the Engineer. The emulsified asphalt shall be applied within the <br />temperature range specified in Section 5•02.3(3). Unless othenvise approved by the Project <br />Engineer, the fog seal shall bc appiied prior to opening to traffic. <br />5-04.3(10) Anti•ShippingAdditive <br />When directed by the Engineer, an anti•stripping additive shall be added to the HMA material in <br />accordance with Section 9-02.4. <br />5-04.3(21) Asphalt Binder Revisfon <br />When the Contracting Agency provides a source of aggregate, the expected percentage content <br />of new asphalt binder in the resw5ng HMA will be identified in the contract documents. <br />Should the actual percentage of new asphalt binder required by the job mix fortnula for HMA <br />produced with Agency-provided a99regate vary by more than plus or minus 0.3 percent from the <br />amount shown in the documents, an adjusUnent in payment will be made. The adjustrnent in <br />payment (plus or minus) will be based on the invoice cost to the Contractor. No adjustrnent will <br />be made when the Contractor elects not to use a Contracting Agency-provided source, or when <br />no source is made available by the Contracting Agency.(Added lor PG 6inders] <br />Page 26 of 50 <br />
