PORT OF EVERETf <br />W MARINE VIEW DR <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />CIP NO. 3-0-003-09 <br />PROJECTNO. <br />PD•WM-20006-01 <br />mounted cabinets or ITS hubs shall be sealed with an approved mechanical plug at both ends of <br />the conduit run. Upon installation of wiring at other locations, conduit shall be sealed with duct <br />seal. Upon installation of the pull slring, spare conr �it shall be plugged. <br />Conduit belween light standards, ?PB, PS or rype I poles and the nearest junctlon box shall be <br />the diameter specified in the Plans. Larger size conduit is not allowed at these locations. <br />Spacing of unisWt type channel supports tor surface mounted conduit shall not exceed 5 feet. <br />Where Rigid Galvanized Steei conduit is installed: <br />Insulated grounding end bushings shall have standard threading, which extends around the <br />entire circumierence of the bushing. <br />Where PVC conduit is installed: <br />Conduit shall be schedule 40, with the exception that roadway crossings, and service <br />lateral runs shall be schedule 80. <br />Eighteen•inch radius elbows shall be used for conduit of 2-inch nominal diameter or less. <br />Standard sweep elbows shall be used for conduit with grealer than 2•inch nominal diameter <br />unless othenvise specified in lhe Plans. <br />With the exception of connec6ons to HDPE conduit, joints shall be connected with medium <br />grade gray cement solvent applied per the manufacturers recommendations. <br />In conduit less than 2-inch nominai diameter, pull ropes for wire installation shall be not <br />less than Y. inch diameter. In conduit of 2 inch nominal diameter or larger, pull ropes (or <br />wire installation shall be not less than'/: inch diameter. <br />Trenches Iocated within paved roadway areas shall be backfilled with 3 inches of sand over the <br />conduit, f,�llow��d by cu�trolled density fill meeting the requirements of Section 2-09.3(1)E. <br />Unless othenvise indicate i in the Plans, the controlled density fill shall be placed level to, and 3 <br />inches below, lhe surface of the remaining pavement, followed by 3 inches of paving material <br />that matches the existing msterial. <br />On new construction, conduit shall be Flaced prior to the placement of base course pavement. <br />Junction Boxes, Cable Vaults, and Pull Boxes <br />Section 8•20.3(6) is supplemented with the fol�owing: <br />Unless olhenvise noted in the Plans, junc:ien boxes, cable va�lts and pull boxes shall not be <br />placed within the traveled way or shoulders. <br />Wiring shall not be pulled into any conduit until ali associaled junction boxes have been adj�sted <br />to, or installed in, their final grade and location, unless installation is necessary to maintain <br />system operation. Ii wire is installed for this reason, sufficient slack shall be left to allow for <br />fulure adjustment. <br />Page 42 of 50 <br />
