PORT OF EVEItETT <br />W MARINE VIEW DR <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />CIP NO. 3-0-003-09 <br />PROJECTNO. <br />PD•YVM-20006-01 <br />When junction boxes are installed or adjusted prior to construction of finished grade, pre-moided <br />joinl filier for expansion joints may be plaa•� around the junction boxes. The joint filler shall be <br />removed prior to adjustment to finished grade. <br />Adjustments involving raising or lowering the junction boxes shall require conduit modification if <br />the resultant r,learance between top of conduit and the junction box lid becomes less than <br />6 inches or the resultant clearance between top of conduit and gravel pad is less than 2 inches. <br />Wiring shall ba replaced if sufficient slack is not maintained. <br />The six•inch �ravel pad required in Standard Pian J-11a shall be maintained. When existing <br />junction bo:�es do not have this gravel pad, it shall be installed as part of the adjustment to <br />finished grde. <br />Where cond�iit and junction boxes are placed in barrier, the prime Contractor shall coordinate the <br />work of the Centractor constructing the bartier and the electrical Contractor so that each junction <br />box placed in the barrier is placed in correct alignment with respect to lhe barrier, with the face of <br />the hox Flush. The junction box shall be parallel to the top of the bartier within a t�egree <br />tolerance. If any point on ihe face of a junction box placea in bartier is recessed more than tl6 <br />inch from the surface of the barrier, the Contractor shall install a boz exteneion per the <br />Engineers approval and grout around the extension or remove and replace the entire section of <br />barrier. . <br />Wiring <br />Section 8-20.3(8) is supplemented with the following: <br />At each junc6on box, all illumination wires, power supply wires, and communicafion cable shall <br />be labeled with a PVC marking sleeve. For illumination and power supply circuits the sleeve <br />shall bear the cir�uit number. For communication cable the sleeve shall be marked'Comm'. <br />All splices shall be made in the presen�:e of the Engineer. <br />Bonding, Grounding <br />Section 8-20.3(9) is supplemented with the following: <br />All appurtenances containing electrical conductors Qunction boxes, luminaires, light standards, <br />cabinets, metallic conduit, non•metailic conduit, etc.) shall be made mechanically and elecirically <br />secure to fortn a continuous system, which shall be effecGvely grounded. <br />Where existing conduits are utilized, an equipment-grounding conductor shail be instailed. <br />Where shown in the plans or where designated by the Engineer, the metal frame and lid of <br />existing junction boxes shall be grounded to lhe existing equipment grounding system. The <br />existing equipment grounding system shall be derived from the service serving the raceway <br />system of which the existing junction box is a part. <br />In addition to the conductors r,alled for in the contract, all conduit shall be installed with an <br />equipment-grounding con�luc!or, sized per NEC 250-122, with the exception that the minimum <br />size shall be 8 AWG. <br />Page 43 uf 50 <br />
