' <br />' <br />PORT OF EVERETT <br />W MARINE VIEW DR <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />CIP NO. 3A-003-09 <br />PROJECTNO. <br />PD-WM-20006-01 <br />C. Test Results. The Engineer will fumish the Contractor with a copy of the results of all <br />acceptance testing performed in the field at the beginning of the next paving shift. <br />The Engineer will aiso provide the Composite Pay Factor (CPF) of the compieted <br />su;��ots after three sublots have been produced. The CPF will be provided by the <br />midpoint of lhe next paving shift after sampling. <br />Individual acceptance sample test results (gradation and asphalt binder conteni) may <br />be challenged by the Contractor. A written challenge of the test results by the <br />Contracior shall be received by the Project Engineer within five working days after <br />receipt of the specific test results. A split of the original acceplance sample shall be <br />sent, for testing, to the Region Materials Lab or to State Materials Lab as determined <br />by the Engineer. The challenged sample will not be tested with the same equipment <br />or by the same tesler that ran the originai acceptance sample. The challenge sample <br />will be tested for a complete gradation analysis and asphalt binder content. <br />The results of ihe challenge sample will be compared to ihe original results of the <br />acceptance sample test and evaluated according to the foilo�ving criteria: <br />Deviation <br />No. 4 sieve and larger t4 percent <br />No. 6 sieve to No. 80 sieve t2 percent <br />No.100 and No. 200 sieve t0.4 percent <br />Asphalt binder % t0.3 percent <br />If the deviation of the challenge sample is within each parameter established, the <br />acceptance sample will be used to detertnine to composite pay factor and the cost of <br />testing will be deducted from any monies due or that may come due the Contractor <br />under lhe contract, at the rate of $250 per test. <br />If the deviation of the challenge sample is oulside of any o�e parameter established, <br />the challenge sample will be used lo detertnine the composite pay factor and the cost <br />of testing will be the Contracting Agency's responsibility. <br />D. Test Methods. Acceptance testing ior compliance of asphalt binder content will be <br />WSDOT FOP for AASHTO Test Method T 308. <br />Acceptance testing for compliance of gradation will be WA�TC FOP for AASHTO <br />T 278T11. <br />E. Reject Mixture <br />1. Rejection by Contractor. The Contractor may, prior to sampling, elect to remove <br />any defective material and replace it wilh new material at no expense to the <br />Contracting Agency. Any such new material will be sampled, tested, and <br />evaluated for acceptance. <br />2. Rejection Without Testing. The Engineer may, without sampling, reject any <br />batch, load, or section of roadway that appears defective in gradation or asphalt <br />Page 19 of 50 <br />
