July 20, 1979
CITY OF
Charles Gilkey everett
2506 Colby Ave. CITY MAIL • :aa-aTaa
Everett, WA 98206 FVERETT. w^s""'GTO"
sezm
RE: Driveway to Everett/Rockefeller Bldg.
Dear Mr. Gilkey:
The safety issue of locating a driveway on Everett or Rockefeller involves
consideration of potential hazard. A driveway described on the east side of
Rockefeller could have greater rear -end collision potential than the approved
Everett Avenue driveway originally requested. A west bound vehicle turning to
the Everett driveway will turn 90 while having to tarn a full 180010 the Rocke-
feller driveway. An east bound vehicle will have to make two 90 turns to the
Rockefeller driveway and just one 900 to the Everett. The Rockefeller driveway
requires twice as many turns and more conflict points - ;uh-_antially more
hazard.
Your request for Council review will be processed by Celia Strong and she will be
in touch with you.
The amount of parking space is a concern but safety concerns are more
important, as you have stated. The newly proposed driveway offers measurably
more hazard than the approved Everett driveway to building visitors and
Everett/Rockefeller motorists and peds.
Sincerely,
RONALD M. CAMERON, P.E.
Traffic Engineer
RMC:jcl
,,.Pe_ Celia 1. Strong
