{ <br />The type of sprinkler to be installed will be determined by the 130ding Official. It may be an NFPA 13, <br />NFPA 13R, or NFPA 13D system depending upon several factors. Sprinkler installation shall not begin <br />without an approved and stamped set of plans from the Engineering & Public Services Department. The <br />Fire Department will also review the plans and shall field inspect the installation based oily on approved <br />plans that must be on site. Changes to plans must be approved by both the Engineering & Public <br />Services and Fire Departments. <br />AI oveground sprinkler piping shall be hydrostatically tested as established in NFPA Standard 13. <br />Underground piping shi .: be hydrostatically tested and f!vs,)ed as established in NFPA Standard 24 for <br />private fire mains. (Below-ar%nd piping must be installed by Washington State Patrol Licensed <br />Underground Sorinkler line certified "U" installers. For further information, contact the State Fire <br />Marshal's Office at (360) 570-3134 or contact the Everett Fire Department at (425) 257-8123.) All such <br />tests shall be witnessed by a Fire Department Inspector. Call (425) 257-8124 to make an appointment <br />for inspection. <br />Contractors' materials and test certificates shall be submitted to the Everett Fire Department prior to <br />issuance of any Certificates of Occupancy. <br />34. Construction and demolition of buildings shall be in compliance with the provisions of the 2006 <br />International Fire Code, Chapter 14. <br />35. Buildings containing high -piled combustible storage shall be in accordance with Chapter 23 of the 2006 <br />International Fire Code and NFPA 13. A Fire Department permit is required for high -piled storage. <br />36. Permits are required from the Fire Department for removal and installation of underground fuel tanks. <br />37. Abandoned tanks shall be pumped out and the fuel properly disposed of prior to removal. No product or <br />rinse water may be disposed of in such a way that it could enter the storm drains system. <br />38. The storage, handling and use of flammable or combustible liquids shall comply with Chapter 34 of the <br />International Fire Code, 2006 Edition. <br />39. The location of Fire Department connections (FDC) and post indicator valves (PIV) shall be determined <br />by the Fire Code Official. If immediate outside mandoor access is available to the sprinkler valves <br />(risers), a PIV will not be required. <br />40. Dumpsters over 1.5 cubic yards capacity shall be located a minimum of 5 feet from the building [IFC <br />304.3.3, 2005 Edition]. <br />41. Spray application of flammable finishes must be in accordance with the 2006 International Fire Code, <br />Chapter 15. <br />42. Welding/cutting/other hot work must be in accordance with Chapter 26 of the 2006 International Fire <br />Code, including welding booths and other protective systems. <br />
