1) a 10 foot wide safety bench for every three feet of
design water depth and the side slopes of the pond are no
greater t_han J: 1 (H:V) ; or
2) the maximum water depth of the facility does not exceed
three feet during a two year storm, nor exceed three feet
for more than four hours for a 25 year storm; the side
slopes are a maximum of 3 :1 (H:V) ; and the facility is a
dual use facility; or
3) apecific City Council approval is granted for an
exemption per the criteria in the Citys Design and
Construction Standards and Specifications.
If fencing is required, its exact location and also the
✓ location of the gates necessary to access the pond for
maintenance mus+: be shown.
Before the existing detention facility is modified and/or
used to detain stormwater from this project, the existinq
• earthen dam should be checked for structural integrity and
safety and approved by a geotechnical enciineer.
Construction of the storm drain and manholes from manhole k2
to the outlet in the existing detention pond should not be
atarted before Jne 15 of any year, and should be completed
by October 1 of the same year. Construction should occur
during dry periods only.
Zn the temporary ersion control construction sequence, item
6 should include a requirement for immediate stabilization
of the area distrbed during the installation of the storm
drain and manholes from manhole #2 to the outlet in tha
pond. Seeding should occur along with placement of erosion
control blankets, or jute netting over straw, on slopes
greater than or equal to 25$ and in the lower areas where
water flow occurs. Straw alone should not be used anyplace
where it may be carried by surface flow to the pond.
Analysis of the natural drainage way to the existing
/ , -{ '" detention pond must be provided to show that the desiqn
c , diversion flows will not result in erosion of the channel .
„ Factors to be used in the analysis should include channel
; , / characteristics such as general cross-section, longitudinal
slopes, soil types, and veqetation type and cover.
Additional comments are written directly on the plans.
