i <br /> I1 1-103 Tra�c Control Management <br /> 2 1-10.2(1) General <br /> i 3 It is the Contractor's respunsibility to plan, conduct and safely perfortn the work. The <br /> 4 contractor shall provide an individual who is a certified Worksite Traffic Control <br /> 5 Supervisor (TCS) to direct the installation, monitoring, modification, and maintenance of <br /> � 6 the required traffic control. The certification shall conform to the requirements of the <br /> 7 American Tra�c Safety Service� 4ssociation (ATSSA)or an approved equal. <br /> 8 <br /> I 9 The TCS shall coordinate work with the Contractors Project Superintendent. The TCS <br /> 10 shall conduct weekly planning sessions with the Project Superintendent to schedule <br /> 11 traffic control for all major material deliveries to the project site, including but not limited <br /> 12 to: concrete, pile, gravel, sand, borrow, paving materials, drainage and electrical items. <br /> f 13 <br /> � 14 The Contractor shall identify an altemate TCS who can assume the duties of the <br /> 15 assigned or primary TCS in the event of that person's inability to perform. Such <br /> I 16 alternates shall meet the same requirements as the primary TCS. <br /> l 17 <br /> 18 The Contractor shall maintain 24-hour telephone numbers at which the TCS can be <br /> I 19 contacted and be available upon the Engineer's request at other than normal working <br /> 20 hours. The TCS shall have the appropriate personnel, equipment, and material available <br /> 21 at all times in order to expeditiously correct any deficiency in the tra�c control system. <br /> � 22 <br /> 23 1-10.2(1) Treffic Control Supervisor <br /> 24 A Tra�c Control Supervisor(TCS)shall be on the project whenever traffic control labor is <br /> � 25 required or less frequently, as approved by the Engineer. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 The TCS shall personally perform all the duties of the TCS. During non-work periods, the <br /> 28 TCS shall be available to the iob site within a 45-minute time period after notification by <br /> I 29 the Engineer. <br /> 30 The TCS's duties shall include: <br /> 31 <br /> { 32 1. Inspecting traffic control devices for proper location, installation, <br /> ! 33 message, cleanliness, and effect on the traveling public. Traffic control <br /> 34 devices shall be inspected each work shift except that Class A signs <br /> � 35 need to be checked only once a week. Traffic control devices left in <br /> � 36 place for 24 hours or more should also be inspected once during the <br /> 37 nonworking hours when they are initially set up (during daylight or <br /> � 38 darkness, whichever is opposite of the working hours). <br /> 39 <br /> 40 2. Preparing a daily traKc control diary, which shall be submitted to the <br /> � 41 Engineer no later than the end of the next working day to become a part <br /> 42 of the project records. The Contractor may use their own form if it is <br /> 43 apprcved by the Engineer. Include in the diary such items as: <br /> 44 <br /> I 45 a. When signs and traffic control devices are installed and <br /> � 46 removed, <br /> 47 b. Location and condition of signs and tra�c control devices, <br /> f 48 c. Revisions to the approved traffic control plan (TCP), and <br /> � 49 d.
