i <br /> i <br /> , 1 REMOVAL OF STRUCTURES <br /> 2 Description <br /> � 3 Section 2-02.1 of the Standard Specifications is supplemented with the following: <br /> 4 <br /> r 5 The Contractor shall remove and dispose of or salvage items as shown and noted in <br /> i� 6 the Plans or these Special Provisions. The Contractor shall dispose of all items in <br /> 7 accordance with current Federal, state, and local regulations and provisions, and <br /> � 8 following Best Management Practice. This work shall consist of removal, wholly or in <br /> 9 part, and safisfactory disposal of any obstructions, as shown on Plans or as directed <br /> 10 by the Engineer. Removals under this section also include, but are not limited to: <br /> 11 pile stubs, concrete walls and footings, concrete slabs, steel stairvvays, light <br /> E 12 standards, fire hydrants and other fire protection systems, pipes, catch basins, inlets, <br /> � 13 and manholes, asphalt pavement, concrete �nd/or asphalt sidewalks, revetment, <br /> 14 curbs and curb and gutter, traffic islands and traffic curbs, beam gua,-drail, fence, <br /> � 15 gates, raised pavement markers, striping, buttons, signs, and debris piles. <br /> 16 <br /> ` 17 It is suggested that prospective bidders inspect the site in detail to determine the existing <br /> 6 18 conditions and the parts to be removed. Interested parties shall contact the Port of <br /> 19 Everett prior to visiting the site to make appropriate arrangements. <br /> � 20 <br /> 21 Construction Requirements <br /> ?2 Section 2-02.3 of the Standard Specifications is supplemented with the foliowing: <br /> � 23 <br /> 24 Any damage due to the Contractor's operations to the portions of the existing <br /> 25 structurPs which are to remain in place shall be repaired by the Contractor at no <br /> I 26 cost to the Port. Repairs shall be approved by the Engineer. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Submittal Requirements <br /> 29 The Contractor shall submil to the Engineer for approval a Demolition Plan with <br /> � 30 working drawings and a safety plan as specified in WORK PLAN. The Demolition <br /> 31 Plan shall demonstrate thal the methods and equipment to be used are adequate <br /> 32 for ihe intended purpose and will provide satisfactory results. It shall provide for <br /> � 33 debris co�tainment, and containmenl and immediate retrieval of deleterious material <br /> 34 that may inadvertently fall in the waler. <br /> 35 <br /> � 36 The Demolition Plan shall show support bents, bracing, guys, lifting devices, liftinq <br /> 37 attachments, the sequence of demolition, the type of equipment to be used, the <br /> 38 location of cranes and barges, ihe location of support or lifting points, and the <br /> � 39 weights of structure parts being removed. The Plan shall also detail how debris is <br /> 40 contrclled and prevented from falling into the water.
