1
Aw
MEMO
TO: Linda Gough
FROM: Marian Payne
DATE: Nov. 21, 1989
SUBJ: ?228 S. 3rd Ave.
On Nov. 15th I received a cal? .rom a Ted Wilson who told me
that I was going to inspe: his apartment. I didn't
recognize his name and asked it he was in the City of Everett
and if so where did he live since I had nothing scheduled for
individual inspections of apartments. When he told me the
address, he said someone told him the I would be inspecting
his apartment. I advised him that I was not aware of any
such inspection but I would find out and get back to him
concerning this matter.
I was surprised that anyone was living there as it had been
posted illegal to occupy in 1971. We had all discussed this
posting during the past couple of months and it is my
understanding that when a dwelling is posted as such, it
shall not be occupied in accordance with existing codes.
After talking with Mr. Wilson, I discussed this with you and
you said you wanted me to inspect the unit to make sure is
was habitable. The original report in 1974 specified several
deficiencies with the dwelling units of this mixed occupancy
building. Those deficiencies are as follows:
1. The first floor ceilings in all areas to be 1-hour fire
resistive sheetrock 5/Bxx to separate that area from the
apartments.
2. All apartments to have solid core doors.
3. All entrance corridors to be sheetrocked including
ceilings.
