Baseline Functions and Values
This wetland and stream offers low to moderate value for wildlife, amphibian and
passerine bird habitat. Limiting factors are the intense residential development
surrounding the site and the municipal sewer line placement adjacent to the stream.
Fish usage of this stream is unlikely due to the intermittent nature of the stream and
the lack of fish access to lower perennial streams. Positive factors relate to the
forested overstory. The wetland .system offers low to moderate value for water quality
and storm event attenuation. The riparian wetland is valuable in filtering sediment
from the system. The associated buffer area on the east side of this wetland is of low
value to wildlife and of low benefit for water quality purposes. Limiting factors
include the existence of the municipal sewer line and access road in the buffer, and
the dominance of non-native blackberry in the immediate vicinity of this lot
development. The disturbed buffer area, prior to clearing was dominated by
blackberry with a few scattered red alder trees.
Restored and Enhanced Functions and Values
After 'completion of this restoration plan and five years of plant development th
buffer will be greatly enhanced over the pre -disturbance condition. This area will I
dominated by native trees and shrubs with control of non-native invasive vegetatio
Benefits for wildlife and water quality will he greatly improved based on increase
diversitv of Dlant species and stabilization of the soil surface.
%O ON NO.
