notify the people responsible for rectifying them. Harry will
not stop any work except in dire circumstances where there are
safety problems, etc. Harry should be notified directly, or
through the general contractor, when there are tests being
performed; he needs to observe these tests.
It was pointed out that the City of Everett will be in charge of
all inspections and they should be notified by the contractor and
subcontractors prior to the time inspections are to take place.
This notification is not the County's responsibility.
Introductions of attendees were made and the meeting was opened
up to any questions and concerns that anyone had.
Ray Emory, Botting Plumbing and Heating, asked whether the
mechanical permit is included with the building permit. The City
of Everett representative stated that the mechanical permit will
be picked up by the mechanical contractor and is separate from
the building permit.
The City of Everett was then asked to outline what their
responsibility will be during the inspection of the job and what
notification is required and how. The representative asked that
they be notified the day before of any needed inspections and
they will try to respond the following day. The City of Everett
will be involved in mechanical, electrical, foundation, concrete
work, building, and steel work inspections. Any notifications
should be made to the City of Everett's Building Department and
the appropriate inspectors will respond. As the project
progresses, the project will probably require a full-time
inspection. Harry Olson will have an office right on site, and
will mainly be inspecting improvements to the right-of-way, tying
into sewer and storm drainage, pouring sidewalks and curbs, etc.
Mel brought to everyone's attention that a notice is being sent
to all County people that there will be no walk-on traffic on the
site. The County is anticipating forming a sidewalk
superintending area and is trying to establish a permit -type
entrance onto the side. Everyone was asked to pass this
information on to their people.
Dave Davis, City of Everett, gave Kiewit representatives a copy
of the METCB work zone traffic control and asked their
cooperation in abiding by it. He also re-emphasized the fact
that the parking situation is very poor and asked that all
employees remain on site. He stated that if there was a need for
more parking space, Kiewit will need to apply for a right-of-way
permit and it will be looked at on an individual basis.
Bill McCall, Kiewit Construction, mentioned fencing the project
site area and indicated they hoped to install the fence outside
the curb area to eliminate re -fencing when sidewalks and curbs
are to be poured. He questioned whether there would be any
problems with blocking the alleys. The City of Everett
