MEMORANDUM
Page 3
November 25, 1983
Item 07: See Section A, sheet A15.4.
I%4m r8: Specifications comply, no substitution has been requested.
Item =9: The mechanical equipment is shoo-in on the drawings and the
equipment data, including fuel input, is shown on the equip-
nent schedules. The fire protection and ventilation systems
shown on the mechanical drawings are as required for these
pieces of equipment.
Item =10: A standpipe system is provided in each of three stairways with
2-1/2 inch hose connections provided at each floor. A cross
tie between the standpipes occurs at Level S-1 rather than
Level S-2, bottom level, in order to prevent freezing of the
line. This system has been reviewed by the Fire Marshal. If
outlet is required above roof, change order will be required.
Item 4I1: Agree, this will be called to the attention of the Contractor.
Item E12: Building design complies.
Item =13: Trap primers will have to be added to the floor drains which
receive infrequent use. Change order required.
Item D.- °irt A: Mezzani:ie floors are considered as stories for
Building Code purposes. The mezzanine opening in the housing
dayrooms should be considered as an atrium as defined in
Section 1715, 1982 USC. This housing configuration is very
common throughout the criminal justice system and has been
accepted in many recent institutions throughout the state.
The building design complies with all requirements of this
section, including an extensive smoke control system, au-
tomatic sprinkler system, and interior finish requirements of
walls and ceilings.
Part B: The outdoor recreation areas were considered as
exterior 2 story spaces that operate more as exit courts or
exterior exit balconies. According to Section 3305h (1 G 2),
protection of openings in interior walls of exterior exit
balconies is not required. Walls, floors and ceiling are
concrete and ar automatic sprinkler system is provided for
fire protection.
