Water cured
treatment of concrete is preferred. nc
use of concrete Curin a 'ent5 I any,
shall +e of the wdium silicate base
oniv. Others require prior written
approval by The Neogard Corporation.
Acid etch or sandblast concrete surfaces
prior to application of material. Chem -
comp or other expansive type concrete
decks must be acid etched with a 14 or
15% muratic acid solution.
It is recommended to finish the
concrete with power or hand steel
trowel followed by a soft hair broom to
obtain light texture or "sidewalk"
finish.
Plywood decks shall be of exterior
minimum B-C grade stamped plywood
at least 5•8" thick. Tongue and grove
plywood is preferred. Juist spacing
beneath the plywood deck should be a
maximum of Ia" center to center with a
maximum 1,Ib" space between sheets
of plywood when placed. Spiral or
coated nails must be used and driven
flush with surface. Do not countersink.
Plywood decks should be covered or
primed with coating as soon as possible.
Methods: The PEDA-GARD II
system is applied by squeege, power
roller, hand roller, airless spray, or
combination of all four.
Primer: Neogard 11 Printer shall be
applied at the nominal rate of 1/3n1 to
112 gallon per 100 square feet over entire
surface of concrete, or steel. It is nut
necessary on plywood. When printer is
tack free - apply babe coat same day.
Derail Work: Coat all cracks with
several applications of PEDA-GARD It
coating. Extend coating a minimum dis-
tance of two inches on either side of all
cracks, cold joints or control joints. Sheet
(lashings should be provided at locations of
high movement.
Bose Coat: Apply I - I: 2 gallons per
100 square feet of PEDA-GARD :1
polyurethane coating material to all
surfaces in 2 coats to yield an average of
18 dry mils. Extend base coat over all
cracks, and control joints which have
received treatment. Install integral
Oashings after base coat has cured.
Apply base coat same day as prime
coat.
Wearing Surface Coat: Apply in 1
coat. 1/2 gallon per 100 square feet of
PEDA-GARD 11 coating material to
yield an average of 6 dry mils and
immediately broadcast properly -
graded, evenly distributed, hard 16.5t
Mob's Scale) 07992 aggregate at the
rate of 10 pounds per 100 square feet.
When dry, sweep off excess aggregate
and re -coat surface with 2 /3rd gallon per
100 square feet of PEDA-GARD II ma.
terial to yield an average of H more dry
mils. Total system coating thickness av-
erages 32 dry mils, exclusive of aggre.
gate.
Heavy Duty PEDA-GARD 11
fo'low above coating procedure and add
after wearing surface coat - 1 gallon
Chem-O-Pon epoxy color in I or 2 coats.
Total system coating thickness averages
40 dry mils, exclusive of aggregate.
Precautions: Although PEDA-GARD
11 is rated lire resistant in its cured state,
it is a "red -label" liquid and highly flam-
mable during application. Extreme caution
must be used when applying PEDA-GARD
If in an interior situation where the solvents
rm contaminate the air conditioning or
ventilation of Occupied spaces. Workmen
must wear chemical cartridge or other up.
proycd mask for urethane, when applying
PEDA-GARD 11 III eticlused areas. A,old
inhaling tunic, and contact with skin. Wear
protective clothing. Keep away from heal
and open tlanles.
6. AVAILABILITY AND COST
A voilabiliry': PEDA-GARD II sys-
tems are available through licensed
applicators maianally and internation-
ally.
Cast: Costs vary due to variations
in labor rates, job size and conditions.
Budget quotations available upon re-
quest.
7. GUARANTEE
PEDA-GARD 11 materials and
workmanship are jointly and st.verally
guaranteed, on a single document, by
The Neogard Corporation and the
licensed applicator. The guarantee in-
sures the waterproofing performance of
the system, at no cost to the owner, for a
period of 3 years. Provisions also
guarantee the integrity of the system
against cracking of the substrate up to
1/16th inch in width; otherwise, no
liability is to be assumed for defects in
the substrate. Liability for damage, in
any respect to the building or contents
thereof is specifically excluded from this
guarantee.
8. MAINTENANCE
Good housekeeping procedures as
generally practiced by the Industry will
assure years of satisfactory perform-
ance. However, should damage Occur,
repairs are simple, and the procedure
for them can be followed by mainten-
ance men. Areas to be repaired should
be cleaned, all damaged materials
removed, the area primed and the full
mil thickness replaced. Where a regular
maintenance and cleaning program is
required, surfaces may be washed with
commercial detergents, or steam clean-
ed. All blades on snow removal equip-
ment must be guarded with a ski device
at each end of blade to protect surface
from contact damage.
9.
