The exterior walls may be constructed of fire-retardant-treated wood framing per <br /> Section 503.4.3 and Table 5-A. This requirement should be noted in all effected wall <br /> sections on Sheet A7.3. Note that the structural wood sheathing will also be required <br /> to be fire-retardant-treated wood and should be noted as such. For all comments <br /> stated below regarding exterior walls, fire-retardant-treated wood is appropriately <br /> su6stituted where noncombustible construction is indicated. <br /> 2. The doors to exterior decks within the units on the North and South walis within 20' <br /> of the property line should be shown as a 3/4 hour, self-closing fire assemblies per <br /> Section 713.6.1. Table 5-A <br /> Comment noted. Please refer to revised drawings showing new door <br /> and hardware schedule. <br /> 3. The glass block assemblies shown to be in use where opening protection is <br /> required based on distance to property lines shall be qualified by tests in accordance <br /> with UBC Standard 7-4 and shall be labeled for the requfred 3/4 hour fira-protection <br /> rating and installed in accordance with their listlng. Glazing in fire window assemblfes <br /> subject to human impact in hazardous locations as indicated in Section 2406.4 shall <br /> comply with section 2406.3. Most of the exterior walls (to include court walls, alcove and deck walls) are <br /> bearing walls by the definition provided for in SecNon 224. Table 5-A requires these <br /> walis be a minimum of two-hour N/C construction. Any exterior walls shown with less <br /> than a rivo-hour fire-resistive rating will be required to show that no more than 100 <br /> IbAineai foot superimposed load is present. <br /> Comment noted. Please refer to revised drawings showing new details and <br /> reference notes. <br /> 5. Based on the definition of floor area (Section 207) the following comments appiy: <br /> a). If the deck alcoves on the North and South sides of the building had no decks, the <br /> alcoves wouid be classified as courts per Section 204.
