R-/ Occupancy <br /> 1. The first three floors of apartments are required to have emergency egress windows or <br /> doors provided for each sleeping room which shall open direcdy into a public street, <br /> public alley, yazd or exit court per Section 310.4. Based on these requirements, the <br /> following comments apply: <br /> a) All egress windows and doors shouid be labeled individually on the plans. <br /> b). The finished sill height of the egress windows should be shown to be no geeater <br /> than 44 inches above the floor. <br /> c). The den in Unit C and Unit E should be re-labeled 'bedroom' and be provided <br /> with an egress window or door,or have the closets removed. <br /> d). The egress window form Unii A does not exit direcdy into the exit court,but into <br /> a ixdestrian walkway. This should be revise@. <br /> 2. It should be specified that gypsum board backing used for tub or shower enclosures <br /> will be water resistant but will not be installed on the ceiling as the framing ezceeds <br /> 12"o.c. Calculations showing compliance with the natural light and ventilation requirements <br /> per Section 1203 should be provided for each unit. Natural vendlation may not be <br /> taken from openings provided with self-closing devices. <br /> ' S. A horizontal air intake at the bottom of the court, not less than 10 squarc f�xt in azea <br /> and leading to the exterior of the building shall be provided. Constivction of the air <br /> intake shall be as required for the couct walls of the building, but not less than one- <br /> hour fire resistive. Secdon 1203.4 <br /> 6. 1'he location of the smoke detectors should be shown on the plans. Secdon 310.9.1.4 <br /> 7. The required smoke detectors should be shown 'hot wired' and have battery backup. <br /> Secdon 310.9.1.3 <br /> Construcdon <br /> 1. The plans should indicate how required structural and fire-rosisdve integrity wiil be <br /> maintained where penetrations will be made for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and <br /> communication conduits,pipes and similaz systems.
