IProposed Modification to the Residence of Jcel 8 Kathy Larsen February i2, 2004 <br />Everett, Washinglon ORA Project Number: 04-O65-Report 1 <br />� <br />2. PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Based on information presented on the project drawings prepared by Goforth Gill <br />� Architects, a topographic survey prepared by GeoDimensions, and on informatiun <br />provided by Eric Rice of Ellisport Engineering, we understand that the projec! includes: <br />I1. demolition of an addition to the existing residence, <br />i 2. demolition of an existing playhouse, <br />3. demolition of an existing garage, <br />4. raising the existing residence and demolition of the existing basement walls, <br />tloor, and foundation, <br />6. construction of new foundations, basement walls, and floor slab, <br />6. construction of a new two-car and a new four-car garage, and <br />7. extensive remodel of the existing residence. <br />Actual live and dead loads that will be transmitted to the foundation were not available <br />when this report was prepared, therefore, to evaluate alternative foundation systems <br />and estimate settlements, we have assume� maximum column loads of 30 kips and <br />maximum continuous �vall loads of 4 kips per lineal foot. <br />3. SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />The scope of serviccs �n�luded a reconnaissance of the site by the geotechnical <br />engineer, a review of geologic literature, anc drilling and sampling two borings at the <br />approximate locations shown on the Site Plan on page A2 in the Appendix of this report, <br />laboratory testing of tl�e sampled soils, engineering analysis, and report preparation. <br />Samples were taken at the intervals no�ed on the individual boring logs, which are <br />presented in the Appendix on pages A3 and A4. The geotechnical angineer logged the <br />borings and obtained bulk and standard split-spoon samples for analysis in the <br />laboratory.
