Page 4
Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Freudenburg
C. Dames and Moore Report dated July 29, 1991 --
Letter Report - Freudenburg Residence Erosion
This report presents the results of a preliminary review
of the property history and a visual site investigation.
The subsequent Dames and Moore report of December 18,
1991 is an extensive follow-up to this report. This
BOE//VG July report, however, does provide several preliminary
conclusions. The report concludes that there are three
contributory causes to the soil settlement in Powder
Mill Gulch. These causes include very high peak flows
in Powder Mill Gulch, causing bank erosion; geologic
conditions that are conducive to landsliding; and the
presence of the small icg dam, which causes extensive
erosion downstream. The report also notes that channel
and bank erosion and local landsliding within Powder
Mill Gulch have been documented to be occurring since
the turn of the century due to logging activities.
D. GeoEngineers Report dated August 23, 1991 -
Geotechnical Engineering Consultation - Unstable
Slope - Freudenburg Residence
This report was prepared for the City of Everett and
discusses the unstable portion of the slope located
between the house and the creek. The report estimates
that the failures surface for this unstable slope is
less than 10 feet below the ground surface. This report
notes that you have periodically graded the ground
surface adjacent to the house to maintain relatively
level access. According to this report, the slopes
adjacent to the south side of the creek to the east and
west of the house on the property are also unstable.
One recommendation of the report is that all downspouts
be tightlined to a suitable disposal point and that the
ground should be graded or ditched to direct surface
water runoff away from ti:e slope.
E. Dames and Moore Memorandum dated December 18,
1991 - Results of Geotechnical Evaluation of
Freudenburg Residence
This report is based on a field investigation and
laboratory analysis of soil samples obtained from the
property. This report states that the property consists
of two distinct soil layers. The top layer consists of
fill material male up of soils ranging from silty fine
