.
II-4-a It will be necessary to remove existing stands of young alder trees in
order to cons[ruct [he new facilities. Hovever, extensive landscapiag
will be under[aken to replenish those trees rcmoved. It is also our
intent to save all es[ablished evergreen trees on [he site. Those areas
not required for construction will remain in their natural state.
II-S The impact of our Proposal upon fauna and wildlife habi[at were addressed
at leng[h in the "Commerce World" E.I.S., pages 50-54 and Appendix 'A' .
II-6 The daily opera[ion of our proposed facilities will slightly increase the
ambient noise level of the area. Howevar, the noise level along [he
new roadways will be increased due to new vehicular traffic introduced
by our presence.
It ie projected that there will be a daily flow of 2,352 vehicles in and
out of our Business Park during the Phaee I development. Due to ihe
fact [hat the area in question is presently uninhabited i[ is obvious
that our presence will have an impac[ on the present ambient noise level.
Due to the expected rate of traffic flow it is expected that the end
of the first work shift will, for a periad of 20 minutes, cause the
greatest noise increase.
It would be expected that our worst case condition vould generate a
5 to 10 dBA increase in ambient noise level, which is a perceivable
increase on the Phase I site itself. However, considering the impact
vith relationship to the ambient noise level on 20th Avene Idest, we
find that only a slight increase of 0-3 dBA would be detected. An
exis[ing high noise level created by the vehicles travelling SR 526 and
20th Avenue West, and entering and leaving the Boeing Company Eacility,
is noted.
Y,ehicle noise generated by traffic on 20th Avenue West is specifically
exempt from the t4aximum Envitonmental Noise level section (WAC 173-60-050,
Section 4a) and is regulated under WAC 173-62 which places specific
limi[s on individual vehicular noise generation. in comparison with
the traffic generated by Boeing, our contribution wuld be less than
10 percent of the total traffic counted on this roadway.
A noise level survey of the area was included in the Commerce World EIS,
pp.57-61. An additional description of existing ooise levels in the
area is inclued in the Final EIS for the Bueing Company Expansion
(p. 32, 33 and Appendix II). As indicated above, an incease in noise
levels af 0-3 dBA vould be added to the exis[ing noise levels for prop-
erties adjacent to [he existing traffic corridors. Our presence
in the area will not exceed the noise levels in esisting regulations
promulgated by [he S[ate of Washington, which specifies [ha[ 70 dBA •
is maximum allowable noise level at the property line of a receiving
industtial property when transmitted frem an induscrial property.
-4-
• ,
