Celia Strong _Z- March 14, 1979
P u We would also like to cooperate with P local transit authority
to see if we could get discount tokens or monthly coupons to
1J tenants of the building so that they could ride the local transit
at a discounted rate. We also might promote contests to encourage
car-pooling and offer non -monetary prizes such as a month's under-
, cover parking or some recognition in the lobby of the building.
We would like to have you digest the above suggestions and then
within the next ten days, work out a formal program that would be
looked upon with favor by the City.
As I commented to you at our meeting, the building owners are
commited to provid- adequate parking for the building, either on
site, adjacent to or within reasonable walking distance.Weplan
to do this by providing underground parking for approximately
60
cars tinder the building. In addition, there will be a supervised
parking lot adjacent to the building, which should handle an addi-
tional 50 cars. This same attendant will supervise the lot across
the street to the east, which will provide a minimum of 40 addi-
tional parking spaces. In addition to the stalls mentioned above,
we have been in contact with Diamond Parking lot people, who state
that there is substantial additional parking available within 800'
(the normal required distance from the building for additional
parking) and that they would be glad to provide the City with a
letter so stating. As mentioned earlier, we would encourage car-
pooling by making the stalls adjacent to the building available
for car-poolers at a reduced rate.
As time is of the essence it this project, we would appreciate
working with you on a timetable for approval by
Public Works of
our project so that construction could commence as soon as a
building permit is available from the Building Department.
Sincerely yours,
i
J mes M.
