January 28 2010 9 093-93256.100
3.10 Element #10 - Control Dewatering
There will 6e no dewatering operations required as part o( this conslruction project.
3.11 Element #11 - Maintain BMPs
All temporery ad peimanent erosion and sediment controi BMPs wiil be maintained and repaired as
needcd to ensure continued peAormance of their intended fundion. Maintenance and repair hall be
conducted in accordance with each particular BMP's specifiwtions. Visual moNtoring of the BMPs will he
conducted at least once every calendar week and within 24 hours o( any rainfall event that causes a
discharge from the site. If the site becomes inactrve and is temporariy stabilized, the inspeclion
trequency will be reduced lo once every month.
All temporary erosion and sediment control BMPs will be removed within 30 days aRer the fnal site
stabilizalion is achieved or aher the temporary BMPs are no ionger needed. Accumulated sedimenl will
6e removed or stabilized on site. Disturbed soil resulting Irom removal of BMPs will be permanently
stabilized.
3.12 Element #12 • Manage the Project
Erosion and sedimenl control BMPs lor this project have been selected 6ased on the following general
principles:
■ Emphasize erosion control ralher than sedimenl control.
■ Minimize the extent and duraGon oi the area exposed.
■ Keep runoff velocilies low.
■ Retain sediment on sita.
■ Thoroughly monitor site and maintain all ESC measures.
■ Schedule major earthwork during the dry season.
As this proecl site is localed west of Ihe Cascade Mountain Crest, the proect wtll be managed accordmg
to lhe following approaches:
3.12.1 Sequenceo/Construction
■ Cap placemenl ac6vities will be controlled to a large extent by the geotechnical properties
of the soii. Due lo the moisWre and compadion requirements for Ihe planned fillcap
material, work cannol proceed wilh overty wet material, and therefore fAllwp placement
operalions will of necessiry only be peAormed during relalively dry conddions.
■ This project is being constructed in a closed depression thal will be modifetl to provide
drainage to the wesL Therefore, pnor to beginning maor soit placement activilies,
appropriate ESC measures (e.g., silt fence, etc.) wdl be put in place at these potential
discharge points lo prevent sedlment release irom Ihe work area.
3.12.2 Seasonal Work Limitations
■ Major earthwork activities will be limited to the period Irom May 1 through September 30
unless the CESCL determines that sediment-laden runott will be prevented from leavmg
the sile through a combination of the tollowing
