Fire Department Comments <br /> 1. Access -The International Fire Code requires that all new siructures shall provide Fire <br /> Department access roads to wilhin 15U feel of ail portions ot the ground floor. Fire <br /> Departmenl access roads (Fire Lanes) shall provide a minimum of 20 feet in�;idth o( <br /> unobstructed, paved driving suAace with d minimum clear height of 13'0'. Inside turn <br /> radii must be 35 feet. Slope approach and departure angles must not exceed 10 <br /> degrees. Fire lane grade must not exceed 15 percent. Fire lane constructicn must <br /> comply with AASHTO H30 load capacity. Fire Lanes will be posted and maintained as <br /> required by the Fire Department. <br /> 2. For any building 30 feet or more in height, aerial fire apparalus access on all (our sides <br /> sfiall meet t'ne requirements of Section D105 of the 2003 International Fire Code. The <br /> unobstructed width of the access shall be a minimum of 24 feet. <br /> 3. Securilv Fence - Any security fence erected around the conslruclion site shall be focated <br /> so as to nol obstrucl any existing hydranl, fire protection equipment, or Fire Department <br /> access. If Fire Department access is obstructed, gotes or other openings shall he <br /> provided for access. <br /> 4. Premise Idenlifcation - Premises shall be clearly identified by the correct address at the <br /> street entry. Buildings shall be c��arly identified so as to be visible and legible from the <br /> access road. individual aparime�,is and suites, where applicable, shall be clearly and <br /> legibly identified irom the access rcad. <br /> 5. Fire Hydranis - The [veretl Municipal Code and the Intemational Firc Code require that <br /> fire hydrants be provided vaithin a maximum distance and of sufficient number and spacing <br /> to all new conslruclion. The distance and number of hydrants varies based on type of <br /> cons7uction and occupancy of the slruclure. <br /> 6. A fire hydrant is required within 200 driving (eet, but not closer thar� 50 feet, of every <br /> structure. location of Ihe hydrant(s) shall be approved by lhe Fire Marshal. <br /> 7. Hvdrants -Water Oow information and number of hydrants required will be determined <br /> when more detailed in(ortnation is provided. <br /> 8. PREMISE IDENTIFICATION AND ALL REQUIRED FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS <br /> ROADS AND FIRE HYDRNNTS SHALL BE IN SERVICE PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT <br /> OF CONSTRUCTION. <br /> 9. The determination of fire flow for buildings other than 1- or 2-family dwellings is based on <br /> type of construction and gross square footage of the structure. Material submitted for <br /> review provided insufficient information lo deterrrine fire flow requirements. <br /> 10. Porlable Fire Protection -A portabie fre extinguisher with a minimum U.L. rating of <br /> 2-A:10-B:C shall be provided within 75 feet of lravei on all iloors of each building during <br /> construction and prior lo occupancy. <br /> 11.
