Fire Department Comments 1. Access -The International Fire Code requires that all new siructures shall provide Fire Department access roads to wilhin 15U feel of ail portions ot the ground floor. Fire Departmenl access roads (Fire Lanes) shall provide a minimum of 20 feet in�;idth o( unobstructed, paved driving suAace with d minimum clear height of 13'0'. Inside turn radii must be 35 feet. Slope approach and departure angles must not exceed 10 degrees. Fire lane grade must not exceed 15 percent. Fire lane constructicn must comply with AASHTO H30 load capacity. Fire Lanes will be posted and maintained as required by the Fire Department. 2. For any building 30 feet or more in height, aerial fire apparalus access on all (our sides sfiall meet t'ne requirements of Section D105 of the 2003 International Fire Code. The unobstructed width of the access shall be a minimum of 24 feet. 3. Securilv Fence - Any security fence erected around the conslruclion site shall be focated so as to nol obstrucl any existing hydranl, fire protection equipment, or Fire Department access. If Fire Department access is obstructed, gotes or other openings shall he provided for access. 4. Premise Idenlifcation - Premises shall be clearly identified by the correct address at the street entry. Fire Hydranis - The [veretl Municipal Code and the Intemational Firc Code require that fire hydrants be provided vaithin a maximum distance and of sufficient number and spacing to all new conslruclion. A fire hydrant is required within 200 driving (eet, but not closer thar� 50 feet, of every structure. location of Ihe hydrant(s) shall be approved by lhe Fire Marshal. 7. PREMISE IDENTIFICATION AND ALL REQUIRED FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS ROADS AND FIRE HYDRNNTS SHALL BE IN SERVICE PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION. 9. The determination of fire flow for buildings other than 1- or 2-family dwellings is based on type of construction and gross square footage of the structure. Porlable Fire Protection -A portabie fre extinguisher with a minimum U.L. rating of 2-A:10-B:C shall be provided within 75 feet of lravei on all iloors of each building during construction and prior lo occupancy. 11.
