Do not incorporate any
5 RAP or RAS into a High RAP/Any RAS mixture from any source other
I
6 than the stockpile which was sequestered for approval of that particular
7 High RAP/Any RAS mix design.
8
I 9 RAP that is used in a Low RAP/No RAS mix is not required to come from
10 a sequestered stockpile.
11
I 12 5-04.3(6) Mixing
13 The asphalt supplier shall introduce anti-stripping additive, in the amount
14 designated on the QPL for the mix design, into the asphalt binder prior to
I 15 shipment to the asphalt mixing plant.
16
17 Anti-strip is not required for temporary work that will be removed prior to
18 Physical Completion.
I19
20 Use asphalt binder of the grade, and from the supplier, in the approved mix
21 design.
1 22
23 Prior to introducing reclaimed materials into the asphalt plant, remove wire,
24 nails, and other foreign material. Discontinue use of the reclaimed material if
I 25 the Engineer, in their sole discretion, determines the wire, nails, or other
26 foreign material to be excessive.
27
28 Size RAP and RAS prior to entering the mixer to provide uniform and
29 thoroughly mixed HMA. When a
I 41 WMA additive is included in the manufacture of HMA, do not heat the WMA
42 additive (at any stage of production including in binder storage tanks) to a
43 temperature higher than the maximum recommended by the manufacturer of
I 44 the WMA additive.
45
46 A maximum water content of 2 percent in the mix, at discharge, will be allowed
111 47 providing the water causes no problems with handling, stripping, or flushing. If
48 the water in the HMA causes any of these problems, reduce the moisture
49 content.
50
1 51 During the daily operation, HMA may be temporarily held in approved storage
52 facilities.
