Construction
C1Suspended ceiling systems are designed to be level (to within 1/8" over 12") and shall
be attact,ed to structure at the perimeters. The proposed clouds are sloping and
detached from the walls. The manufacturer's listing must be provided which shows the
system has been approved for this proposed configuration. UBC Standard 25-2,
Section 25.210
BN&H: Armstrong World Industries, the manufacturer of the suspended ACT 8 GWB
ceiling systems as drawn and specified for this project, referred our office to a
structural engineering office ir. Portland, Oregon, for the generation of
engineering calculations and details specic to the needs of this project's
installation conditions. The manufacturer provides this avenue of certification
for their product usage in lieu of issuiny generic reports. This addresses the
need to meet code seismic-zone-specific design parameters. Attached are
structural engineering calculations and details generated specifically for the
suspended ceiling conditions used on this project. This engineering ensures
full compliance with UBC Stardard 25-2 and other applicable code references.
The special structural details have been added to the project drawings by
Addendum No. 4, dated June 3, 2003. These engineering calculations will te
submitted to accompany this letter.
r 2Various suspended ceiling detaiis on sheet A11.0 show horizontaily stacked and/or
\ ,% disconlinuous, cantilevered ceiiing system (such as for a Iight cove or window shade).
The manufacturer's listing must be provided which shows the system has been
approved for these proposed confiqurations.
BNBH: Piease refer to the repiy for Item 1, above.
! 3. Requirements for lateral bracing and compression struts for the suspended ceilings
should be provided on the plans. UBC Standard 25-2, Section 25.212.3
BN&H: Please refer to the reply for Item 1, above, for the various special ceiling
conditions. Our standard office detail addressing this matter for all non-special
suspended ACT ceilings, has been added to the drawings by Addendum No. 4,
dated June 3, 2003, as drawing SK-A11.1-7, Detail 7 Typ. Ceiling Suspension
Bracing, Ail Conditions.
4. All rated walis shouid have their listing shown on the plans (all partitions must be
minimum one-hour rated unless they are within an office or store space).
