• <br /> . <br /> portions thereof as determined by the municipal judge. The per diem rate <br /> may be adjusted either by amendment to this section or in the annual <br /> budget ordinance or in the annual salary ordinance. The term of <br /> appointment shall be specified in writing, but shall not extend beyond the <br /> term of the appointing mayor. <br /> Section 4: Ordinance No. 1259-86, Section 7 (EMC 2.108.070), which currently reads as <br /> follows: <br /> Additional judge-Appointment-Qualifications-Salary. <br /> A. An additional judge shall be appointed by the mayor within thirty <br /> days after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, <br /> subject to confirmation by the city council, as provided in subsection(A) <br /> of Section 2.108.030, for a term of four years,which term pursuant to <br /> RCW 3.50.040 shall have commenced on January 1, 1986. Appointments <br /> for each term thereafter shall be made on or before December 1st of the <br /> year next preceding January 1st of the year in which the next term <br /> commences. <br /> B. A person appointed as additional municipal judge shall be a citizen <br /> of the United States of America and of the state of Washington; and an <br /> attorney admitted to practice law before the courts of record of the state of <br /> Washington. <br /> C. The additional judge shall serve on a part-time basis of less than <br /> ninety hours per month when the public interest and administration of <br /> justice make such judge necessary. The salary of the additional judge shall <br /> be nine hundred dollars per month. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Additional Judge - Qualifications - Salary. <br /> A. Additional judicial positions may be created by the mayor, subject <br /> to approval of city council, when the public interest and administration of <br /> justice make such judges necessary. Such additional judge(s) shall be <br /> appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council, until <br /> the next municipal election, at which time such judge(s) shall be elected in <br /> the same manner as other elective city officials are elected to office. The <br /> term of the additional judge(s) shall be the same as positions 1 and 2 as <br /> provided herein. <br /> B. To be eligible to file a declaration of candidacy for and to serve as <br /> an additional municipal court judge, a person must be a registered voter <br /> and resident of the city of Everett for at least one year next preceding his <br /> election and/or his appointment; an attorney admitted to practice law <br /> 4 <br />
