• <br /> • <br /> corrected, if necessary, in the adoption of the final <br /> ordinance relating to comprehensive plan policies for adult <br /> use businesses; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council does conclude : <br /> 1 . The pending challenges before the federal court and Growth <br /> Management Hearings Board require that the interim policies <br /> resulting from the emergency action be maintained for the purpose <br /> of acting as a stop-gap measure; and <br /> 2 . An extension of the interim policies for up to a six month <br /> renewal period will further the goals of the Growth Management <br /> Act by allowing for additional public participation and more <br /> systematic study of the affects of the adult use regulatory <br /> scheme. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : Section 6 of Ordinance No. 2143-96 which reads as <br /> follows : <br /> The City Council hereby adopts this ordinance to provide <br /> comprehensive plan policies for adult use businesses . This is an <br /> interim ordinance that shall remain in effect for a period not to <br /> exceed six (6) months to enable the State to review the ordinance <br /> and comment per RCW 36 . 70A. 106 . Following the lapse of the sixty <br /> (60) day period required by RCW 36 . 70A. 106 , the City will review <br /> any comments it receives from the State, take such action the <br /> City deems appropriate, and remove the interim designation. <br /> be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows : <br /> The City Council hereby adopts this ordinance . to provide <br /> comprehensive plan policies for adult use businesses . This is an <br /> interim ordinance that shall remain in effect for a period not to <br /> exceed six (6) months . Provided, this initial six (6) month <br /> period shall not lapse and this ordinance shall continuously <br /> remain in effect for any one or more six (6) month renewal <br /> periods subsequently adopted. <br /> 3 <br />
