A project artist working under a separate contract is developing aesthetic design elements for various components of the plaza. Nakano Associates will be integrating the artist's designs into the construction documents for the project. The additional design fee for this task is $8,930. Additional project lighting will be added related to the exterior of the Key Bank building to help, in part, provide additional illumination for the plaza to enhance site security. Exterior lighting design for the building will be added to Nakano Associates' scope of work for $4,413. Amendment One to the Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Nakano Associates increases the overall scope of design work for the plaza. The cost of the PSA will increase from $196,120 to $209,463. This amount is available from the 20% design development contingency of the authorized project funding. Approximately $28,000 in design contingency will remain within the council approved funding ordinance for this phase of the project. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment One to Professional Services Agreement with Nakano Associates for design of the Downtown Plaza at the Everett Performing Arts Center.
