The Building Official shall keep an itemized account of the expense incurred by this jurisdiction in the repair or demolition of any building done pursuant to the provisions of Section 701.3, item 3, of this Code. Upon the completion of the work or repair or demolition, said Building Official shall prepare and file with the Clerk of this jurisdiction a report specifying the work done, the itemized and total cost of the work, a description of the real property upon which the building or structure is or was located, and the names and addresses of the persons entitled to notice pursuant to section 401.3. H. Section 909 of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1994 Edition, is hereby amended by deleting: After confirmation of the report, certified copies of the assessment shall be given to the Assessor and the Tax Collector for this jurisdiction, who shall add the amount of the assessment to the next regular tax bill levied against the parcel for municipal purposes. and inserting in its place: Section 909. The Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1994 Edition, is hereby amended by the following addition: Chapter ten: Emergency Procedure City Council Action. In cases where it reasonably appears that there is immediate danger to the life or safety of any person unless a dangerous building is immediately repaired, secured, vacated or demolished, the Building Official shall report the fact to the City Council of the City of Everett and the City Council may cause a resolution to be passed authorizing the Building Official to affect the immediate repair, securing, vacation or demolition of the dangerous building. The cost of the emergency repair, securing, vacation, or demolition of such dangerous buildings shall be collected in the same manner as provided in Chapter Nine. J. The Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1994 Edition, is hereby amended by the addition of the following section: Authority to Abate. a) Any violation of the Code is hereby declared to be a nuisance. b) Where a nuisance exists, the City Attorney on behalf of the City is authorized to institute injunction, mandamus, or other appropriate action or proceeding to prevent the violation of this Code. 5
