Unit,Grant Griffin. TRANTECH will submit all appropriate electronic files to WSDOT,respond to any
inquiries and correct any coding errors, which may occur.
Task 3b--Field Inspections
As previously stated all work would be performed in strict conformance to WSDOT,FHWA and BNSF RR
procedures and standards.
The field work will include electronic photography of all structures, timber boring as necessary to
determine the extent of rot in timber members, use of a boat to obtain access to critical elements and timing
the inspections to the tidal cycle to achieve a more thorough inspection of those bridges tidally influenced.
Prior to performing the field inspections, the inspection team will review the bridge files and printouts
obtained of their current inspection reports and WSBIS forms.
A two-person inspection team, trained in bridge inspection and electronic coding, will visit each bridge and
perform an inspection. All forms and incidental items such as timber boring logs will be completed, and
maintenance recommendations will be developed. Some timber boring is anticipated where evidence
would justify it,such as water staining, weathering, severe cracking,or the member soundings. All bridges
will be photographed-with an electronic camera showing a deck,both elevation views.In addition,all
bridge deficiencies will be photographed and described. In addition each bridge will be inspected for scour
potential,scour damage,fracture critical determination,and a UBIT inspection.In case there is a need for
an under water inspection on any bridge, the City will be informed to bring on-board a specialty underwater
inspection firm.
Inspection data will be entered into the applicable WSDOT Bridge Inspection report forms;including
Washington State Bridge Inventory System(WSBIS)forms. All of these files will be entered
electronically on the new WSDOT's Bridge Works Program and ultimately submitted electronically to
WSDOT.
The estimate of cost for performing Inspection Services on the identified bridges and culverts is
presented in Exhibit B,Task 3.It should be noted that the cost of traffic control is not included in the cost
estimate.
Task 4--Report Submittal
Task 4a—Bridge Reports
A report will be prepared and submitted for each bridge inspected, including printouts of the WSDOT
Inspection Report,WSBIS form, color printouts of the photographs with labels, electronic files of the
photographs and the completed bridge maintenance list. All appropriate electronic files will be submitted to
WSDOT. The City will have access to these files on the WSDOT Internet site once the files have been
processed. The City will also receive copies of all paper documents for their files.TRANTECH will work
closely with Mr.Grant Griffin of WSDOT Local Agency Programs to ensure that all products are received.
The inspection team, prior to their final submittal, will review all products.
Task 4b--Bridge Maintenance List and Cost Estimation
An updated Bridge Maintenance List outlining the maintenance recommendations resulting from the
inspections will be provided. This list will track repairs made and identify repairs required. Following this
list,TRANTECH will provide construction cost estimates of the identified repairs for each structure.
lY
Page 4
