5 <br />Guidelines: Lighting within parking structures shall be shielded from <br />producing off-site glare impacts to residential areas, either <br />through exterior shields or through optical design inside the <br />fixture, so that the direction of light is downward. <br />4.1.7 Lighting: <br />Intent: To ensure that site lighting contributes to the character of <br />the site and does not disturb adjacent residential areas. <br />Guidelines: <br />• Lighting shall be provided within parking lots and along pedestrian <br />walkways. <br />• Lighting fixtures shall be limited to heights of 24 feet for parking <br />lots and 18 feet for pedestrian walkways. All lighting shall be <br />shielded from producing off-site glare, either through exterior <br />shields or through optical design inside the fixture, so that the <br />direction of light is downward. <br />• Accent lighting should be used to highlight building/site entrances <br />and special landscape features. <br />4.1.8 Integration of Signs with Architecture: <br />Intent: To ensure that signage is part of the overall design of a <br />project and not additive or an afterthought. <br />Guidelines: <br />• Sign category "C" applies except for the following guidelines. <br />• The design of buildings and site plans shall identify locations and <br />sizes for future signs. <br />31 <br />
