5 <br />• An overall sign program for the hospital shall be established and <br />approved by the Planning Director. The sign program shall <br />indicate location, size and general design. <br />• Signs shall not project above the roof, parapet, or exterior wall. <br />• Signs shall be oriented to pedestrians. <br />• No flashing, blinking or electronic changing message signs are <br />allowed. <br />• One sign per street, other than directional signs. Directional signs <br />include building signs to identify the building. <br />• Signs should be designed so they are illuminated in a way to be <br />seen clearly but do not produce glare off site into residential areas. <br />4.1.9 Streetscqpe — Prominent Entrance: <br />Intent: To ensure that building entrances are easily identifiable and <br />clearly visible from streets and sidewalks. <br />Guidelines: <br />The principal entry shall be marked by at least two of the following: <br />Recessed entrance <br />• Protruding entrance <br />• Canopy <br />• Portico <br />• Overhang <br />• Gateway/trellis <br />• Ornamentation around the door <br />• Other comparable elements <br />32 <br />
