The extension of the Recovered Water Outfall will separate the
outfall from the intake pipeline ensuring that the majority of the recovered water is drawn to the north end of
the lake and that the portion of recovered water returning to the plant intakes has undergone significant
dilution. The anticipated construction cost is $2.2 Million with construction anticipated in 2009.
This Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Cosmopolitan modifies the scope of work,
time for completion and compensation to allow for the final design of the Recovered Water Outfall
improvements. $120,000 has previously been spent on preliminary design and studies_ This Amendment
extends the contract completion date to December 31, 2010 and increases the maximum compensation for
Cosmopolitan from $120,000 to $395,000 for design services.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign Amendment 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with Cosmopolitan
Engineering Group for design services for the Recovered Water Outfall at the Water Filtration Plant in the
amount of$275,000.
82
