Never in nis twenty-•year
operation o: the mill did Carl :ondit manufacture cedir
shakes at tP,is mill.
X.
After George Swimm purchased the property in late 1974,
the operation gradually expanded to its present level of op-
eration. The must noticeable expansion began in 1977. Swimm
makes his livelihood operating a cedar shake mill on the
premises in 1uestion. He utilizes cedar logs hauled in by
way of Dogwood, to SOth et, to Glm, to Slst west, and into
the site. Logs arrive by logging tuck where they are
mechanically unloaded and stored on the sir_e. The logs are
bucked by chain saw. They are then cut up, and eventually
milled by band saw into cedar shakes. The shakes are pr,ssed
with a hydraulic press. 'fhe shakes are stored at the ite
until the time of sale. Sales are both retail and wholesale.
Swimm employs varying numbers of employees to buck, split,
saw an ie-saw the wood, but usually there are only three
such enployees around at any one time, one of whom is wimm.
All of C'or.dit's eqipment except his ripsaw was moved
after ie sale. The ri.psaw is still at the site.
Tae power bills =ti11 come in Condit's name, but Swimm
pays the bills.
XI.
Swimm operatF the mill "when he feels like it; when he
wants to WUYJC.° Gccasi.cnally he has operated on week-ends
FIP7DINGS rJF FACT F.iD
CONCLCSiONS OF LAW - 7

_
0
-
..

m
. ..
-i -n
N 2
0
m
m
--i c
0
i -Z-i
m
.o z
c
a --i
r x
.. ..
-i tn
p T
T p
a
=m
m .
N
n N
3 fn
.im
n
F
-a
_
n
z
-

Z
0
-i
n
m
