SCHEDULE B: SMITH .,.AND LANDFILL 177065B <br />PHASE 2 CLOSURE IMPROVEMENTS <br />3.3 MULCHING <br />A. Apply uniformly on disturbed areas that will remain undisturbed for 7 days or <br />more, as requested by Engineer, and on seeded areas. <br />B. Application: Sufficiently loose to permit penetration of sunlight and air <br />circulation, and sufficiently dense to shade ground, reduce evaporation rate, <br />and prevent or materially reduce erosion of underlying soil. <br />1. Straw: Apply by hand or mechanical means to minimum depth of <br />2 inches. <br />2. Wood Cellulose Fiber: 1,000 to 1,500 pounds per acre. <br />3.4 TAC=-R <br />A. Apply on areas mulched. <br />B. Spray on after mulch is in place. <br />C. Apply in quantities sufficient to equal retention properties of a CSS-1 asphalt <br />emulsion being applied at rate of 60 pounds per acre for slope less than 2:1. <br />3.5 SILT FENCE (SUPPORT FENCE AND GEOTEXTILE) <br />A. Install prior to starting earth disturbing activities upslope of fence. <br />B. One-piece geotextile or continuously sewn to make one-piece geotextile for <br />full height of the fence, including portion buried in the toe trench. <br />C. When joints are necessary, splice geotextile together only at a support post, <br />with a minimum 6-inch overlap, and securely fasten both ends to supporl post. <br />D. Geotextile shall not extend more than 24 inches above the ground surface. <br />Securely fasten to upslope side of each support post using ties. Geotextile <br />shall not be stapled to existing trees. <br />E. Fasten wire mesh material support fence securely to upslope side of post <br />fasteners. Extend wire into the trench a minimum of 4 inches, and not more <br />than 36 inches above the ground surface. <br />F. Take precaution not to puncture geotextile during installation. Repair or <br />replace damaged area. <br />G. Remove support fence for geotextile after upslope area has been permanently <br />stabilized. Immediately dress sediment deposits remaining after the geotextile <br />fence has been removed to conform to existing grade.
