ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 <br />REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />SUPPLEMENTS AND MODIFICATIONS TO THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS <br />The following supplemental specitications and modifications, inctuding the City of Everett De�ign and <br />Consiruction Standards and Specifications for Development when soeciiicallv referenced in the contract <br />specifications andlor on the contract drawings which are available at <br />http://www.everettwa.orq/pdf/Enaineerinal2004 Desian & Construction Std.odf, (all of which hereinafier <br />may also be called out as "Special Provisions" but which "Special Provisions" are only applicable to the <br />Standard Specifications) are made a part of this contract and supersede any conilicting provisions of the <br />Standard Speciiications and the foregoing Amendmenis to ihe Standard Specifications. <br />REMOVAL OF STRUCTURES AND :?SSTRUCTIONS <br />Description <br />Section 2-02.1 is rev;sed to read as (oilows: <br />The work shall consist oi ihe removal and disposal of various existing improvements ihat are outside <br />the excavation limits for the roadways and site. Such items may consist of pavements, struciures, <br />pipe, curbs, curb and gutter, gutter, railroad track, railroad ties, fence, and other items necessary tor <br />ihe accomplishment of ihe improvement. <br />All work done with asbestos-cement pipe shall contorm to the "Recommended Standard Asbestos- <br />Certient Pipe Work Practice Procedure and Training Requirements," latest edilion, as published by <br />the American Water Works Association, Pacific Northwest Section. Asbestos-cement pipe shall be <br />removed and disposed of in accordance with the practices specified by ihe State oi VJashington <br />Department of Ecology and the Snohomish County Solid Waste Division. <br />Construction Requirements <br />Removal of Curb, Curb and Gutter and Sidewalks ', <br />Curbs, gutters, and sidewalk to be removed shall be sawcut at the nearest scribe marl:s beyond the <br />neat line limits subject to ihe followirg requirements: <br />1. ReToval shall be extended to a ihrough ioint or to the edge of the sidewalk if within 4 feet of a <br />neat line. <br />2. The minimum width of new or remaining concrete walk shall be as follows: <br />a. Two feet when sidewalk is or will be supported on each side by properly placed concrete <br />walk or other improvement ihat wili prevent ihe sidewalk from shiiting. <br />b. Four teet when sidewalk is or will be bounded by earth pianting strip. <br />The depth ot saw cut shall be a minimum ot 2 inches. Saw cuts shall leave straight edo- , and <br />vertical taces. No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed unless otherwise indicateo on the <br />drawings or directed by the Resident Engineer. <br />A concrete walk that is to remain in place will be protected from aquipment damage by using <br />olanking or a rock-free 8-inch blanket of excavated soil. <br />Where sidewalk adjacent to a sidewalk removal section is in poor condition, removal shail be <br />extended to the nearest through joint or scribe mark as directed by the Resident Engineer. <br />Pavement breaking equipment shall be approved by the Resident Engineer before it is used. <br />Removing Calch Basins, Manholes, Inlets, or Sumps <br />The Contractor shall excavate and completely remove ihe structure in accordance with Sectiun 7- s��'. <br />05.3(2), including casting and outlet trap, concrete encasemeni, and bricks, as applicable.
