ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS Following roadway and site excavation to grade ar.d before placement of fills or base courses, the subgrade under the roadway and parkiny lot areas shall be procf rolled in the presence of the Resident Engineer to identify any soft or foose areas. The proof roll shall be with a 15-ton steel wheeled roller. In areas where ihe subgrade does not stand up to the proof roll, the subgrade shall be over-excavated 18 inches and reusable existing on•site material, or imported material, as determined by the Resident Engineer, shall be iniroduced to bring the subgrade up to the proper compaction and elevation. This material shall be compacted in accordance with Sec�ion 2-03.3(3). Imported material shall be gravel borrow as directed by the Resident Engineer. Gravel borrow shall conform to Section 9-03.14(1). Crushed surtacing base course (CSBC) as detined in Section 9-03.9(3) may be substituted for gravel borrow. Contractor-Provided Disposal Site Section 2-03.3(7)C is supplemented with the following: Asbestos-cement pipe disposal practice shall conform to the requi�ements oi the State of Washington Depariment of Ecoloyy and the Snohomish County Solid Waste Division. Disposal and handlinc� of the Arsenic and Total material shall contorm to the requirements of the and lhe Snohomish County Solid Was�e Division. WATERING Petroleum Hydrocarbon contaminated waste State of 1Nashington department of Ecciogy Construction Requiremenis Watering shall be as specified in Section 2-07, except as hereinafter supplemented: Only City of Everett personnel and the Resident Engineer may authorize the operation of City fire hydranis or making connections to City water mains. Upon obtaining said permission, the following shall apply: 1. The Contractor shall use only those hydrants designated by the agency in charge of water distribution and in sirict accordance with its requirements for hydrant use. A hydrant use permit must be obtained by contacting the U�ilities dispatcher. 2. The Contractor shall secure permission irom and comply with all requirements of ihe water utility be(ore obtaining water from ihe fire hydrants. The Resident Engineer shall also be notified by the Coniractor of such permission as soon as granted. 3. The Contractor shall use hydrant wrenches only to open hydrants. He shall also make certain that the hydrant valve is open "(ull" since "cracking" the valve causes damage to ihe valve. An approved auxiliary valve shall be provided on the outlet line for control purposes. Fire hydrant valves must be closed siowly to avoid a surge in the system which creates undue pressure cn water lines. The Contractor shall carefully note the importance o( tollowing these directions. 4. If one ot ihe Contractor's employees shall knowingly or unknowingly use ihe wrong wrench on a hydrant and thereby damage the hydrant valve stem, the Contractor will be responsi�le. He shall immediately noti(y ihe water utility so ihat the damage can be repaired as quickly as possible. 5. Upon completing the use of the hydranis, ihe Contractor shall notify the water distribution agency so that the hydrants may be then inspected for possible damage.
