ATTACHMENT A TO SECTION 01900 <br />REVISIONS TQ THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />Trenches shall be conslructed to the depths, widths, and grades shown in the Plans and in the <br />Cily ot Everefl Standard Drawings. <br />Backfilling <br />Section 7-08.3(3) is supplemented with ihe following: <br />Meet the requiremenis of City oi Evereit Standard Drawings 316 and 610, 611, 615 and Section <br />3-95 of the City of Everett Desiyn and Construction Standards and Specifications. <br />Backfilling shall be performed only after inspection and approval oi the installed pipe. <br />Excavated uncontaminated material free irom mud, clay, muck, organic matter, and broken <br />pavement shall be used for back(ill, except where otherwise required by the Resident Engineer. <br />Backfill shall be excavated material placed in the remainder of the trench above the bedding <br />and Aine zona material, except where otherwise required by Standard Drawing 610, or by the <br />Residsnt Engineer. Backtill shalt be placed in horizontal liits and each litt mechanically <br />compacted by a power-operated mechanical tamper(s) as specified in Section 2-03.3(14jC or <br />other mechanical compaction device approved by the Resident Engineer. The Cor.tractor shall <br />take any necessar� steps to protect ihe excavated material irom beco.ming comaminated with <br />moisture. <br />If there is an excess oi backfill material obtained from trench excavation at one location on lhe <br />project, it shall be used at other locations on ihe project or disposed ot at an approved disposal <br />site. <br />If native material is not suitable tor use as backfill, gravel borrow coniorming to Section 9- <br />03.14(1) of the Standard Specifications shall be used, as required by the Resident Engineer, for <br />trench backfill. <br />Controlled Density Fill <br />Conirolled density fill shall be used in lieu of s;lect irench backtill tor fill above pipe zone at all street <br />crossings and other areas, as directed by the Resident Engineer, v�here high density backfill is <br />required to prevent settlement of roadway pavement patches. <br />Controlled density till shall be a mixture o( cement, fIy ash, fine aggregate and water which has been <br />batchedin accordance with Section 2•09.3(1)E. <br />Abandoned/Removed Pipe <br />Where shown in the Plans, existing sanitary sewer and storm drainage pipe shall be removed, or <br />plugged and sealed with controlled density fill and abandoned in place. <br />WATER MAINS <br />Construction Requirements <br />Trench Excavation <br />Section 7-09.3(7) is supplemented witli the iollowing: <br />Recent work in the project area indicates significant amounts oi perched water may be <br />encountered, depending on the lype ot soil in the localized work area. <br />Where water is encountered in the trench, it shall be removed during pipe-laying operations and <br />ihe trench so maintained until ihe ends ot ihe pipe are sealed and provisions are made to <br />Capital Projects Commuter Rail Attachment A to Section 01900 - 19 IFB No. RTA/CP 21-06 <br />� Everett Station Phase 2REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONSAddendum No.4 <br />
