ATrACHMENT A TO SECTION 0190U <br />REVISIONS TO THE STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />Water mains shall be laid to provide a minimwn cover over ihe oipe ot 36 i iches under iinished <br />g�ade, unless indicated otherwise on ihe drawings or approved by the Re��dent Engineer. <br />Laying of Pipe un Curves <br />Section 7-09.3(15) is supplemented with the following: <br />The maximum deflection of "Mechanical-Joint" pipr• and "�ush-on Joint" pipe shall not exceed <br />that called out in Section 5.8.4 of the Ciry of Eve�ett Design and ConslrucHon Standards and <br />Specifications. <br />Expansion Joint <br />Expansion joint shall be Redflex NSF grade Type J-1 Triple Arch Expansion Joint C/W control rods <br />or approved equivalent. <br />Connections to Existing Mains <br />Section 7-09.3(19)A is suppiemented with the following: <br />Orily City of Everett personnel shall make ihe physical connections between riew and existing <br />mains. Connection to the existing main shall not be allowed until after the new main has been <br />installed, hydrostatically tested, disinfected, flushed and authorized by the Resident Engineer. <br />Tappiny sleeves shall con(orm to the requirements of Section 9-30.3(8) o( these Sp��cial <br />Provisions. Prior to ordering tapping sleeves, the Coniractor shail meet with and discuss ihe <br />order with ihe Resident Engineer and City of Everett water department representatives. <br />Unless ott�erwise specified, the Contractor shall perform alI the excavations and shuring <br />required to allow the City personnel to make the (inal connection between the existing and new <br />mains. The new mains shall be aligned with the existing mains so the connection can be made <br />in a straightiorward manner without turiher alignment changes. Any adjustments required will <br />be made by the Contractor. The Contractor will supply all other materials and labor required tor <br />the tinal connection, including bul not limited to valves, spools, tlanges, back(ill, compaction and <br />restoration. Couplings shall be ductile iron, sleeve couplings, MJ x MJ as manufactured by <br />Mueller or M& H, or approved equal. <br />The Contractor shall give ihe Ci�y of Everett at least 48 hours notice for each connection. The <br />City personnel shall not enter any excavation not shored in coniormance with the requirements <br />of WISHA, RCW 49.17 including WAC 296-155. <br />Concrete Thrust Blocking <br />Section 7•09.3(21) is supplemented with ihe following: <br />The Contractor shall supply and install concrete blocki , at all bends, tees, and crosses, <br />includinc� (i?tinc�s installed by the City o( Everett. Concrete blocking may also be used at other <br />locations as designated by the Resident Engineer tc support or protect the pipe or titlings. <br />Concrete blocking (lhrust blocks) shall be cast-in-place and have a minimum ot �/a square foot <br />bearing against the (itting and 2 square feel of bearing against undisturbed soil and shall be <br />clear of joints so as to permit taking up or dismantling joint. All poured in place blocking shall <br />have a minimum measurement of 12 inches between lhe pipe and the undisturbed bank. All <br />blocking configurations and sizes shall be per City ot Everett Standard Drawinc�s 505 3nd 506. <br />All blocking as shown on ihe standards are considered as minimum, and consideration should <br />be given unusual circums�ances and topography. <br />All concrete blocking shall be formed and all concrete shall be commercial concrate.
