Joint restraint shail be installed per the manufacturer's recommendations. When mechanical joint resira�ning devices are used at bends, mechanical joint restraining devices shall also be used o�, all pipe fittings within 20 foet on either side of bends unless otherwise approved by the R�sident E.igineer. Hydrostatic Pressure Test Section 7-09.3(23) is supplemented with ihe following: It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to provide an approved doubie-check assembly for the purpose of testing and flushing. There will be no charr7e for the water used in this operation. Flushing water may require dechlorination or disposal to City of Everel� sewer system. Method of disposal shall be approved by the Resident Fngineer. VALVES FOR WATER MAINS Materials The (irst p�ragraph of Section 7-12.2 is supplemented with ihe tollowing: Materials shall meet the requirements of ihe following sections o( these Special Provisions: Valve Stem Extensions Consiruction Requirements Section 7-12.3 is supplemented with ihe following: 9-30.3(6) Valve and Valve Box Installation: The valve and valve box shall be set plumb with the vaive box centered on ihe operator nut. Valve boxes shall be set fiush in pavement and gravel roads. When ihe top of the valve operating nut is more than 2 feet below (inished grade, a valve operaiing extension shall be ir.stalled per City of Everett Standard Drawing 504. The minimum extension lengih sliall be 12 inches. Tapping Sleeve and Valve: All taps to existing water mains shall be wet taps and shall be done by City of Everett personnel.
